We’ve written a few “welcome posts” on the 3Points blog, but we’re excited to write our first “welcome back post” — after doing some work with us last year, Will Ruben has now joined 3Points full time as our newest account partner. Will will be working with clients in our finance practice, where he brings years of experience in the options space. Learn more about Will below.
What is your background in communications and PR? And specifically in trading?
Communications has been at the fabric of what I do since I left Marquette University with a journalism degree. I’ve worked primarily in content marketing, social media and account management in my career, and all three of those things tie in to PR. In a previous role at Bantix Technologies — provider of QuikStrike, an option pricing and analysis tool — I acted as our social media marketing arm. I spent much of my day seeing how traders communicate and formed an understanding of the importance of timely messaging.
After working here in 2015, why did you decide to return to 3Points?
It’s all about the team for me. When you’re working with people you trust and respect, it makes it a lot easier to get your job done. It is also quickly apparent how much the 3Points staff cares about their employees and their clients. Not to mention, we have a lot of fun working together in the office!
What do you enjoy most about the finance space?
The fast-paced nature of the job. Things happen quickly in the finance world, and it’s up to us at 3Points to ensure our clients have every opportunity to make their voices heard. Through a collaborative, teamwork approach, we’re able to do our best work for our clients. It’s also really enjoyable to work with innovative clients who are making waves in the fintech space.
What types of things do you like to do outside of work?
I try to keep a solid mixture of having fun, relaxing and working out. If I’m able to do those three things in a weekend, I’ll be a happy guy. I also enjoy trying out as many different restaurants in the Chicago area as I can, spending time with family and friends and watching/playing all kinds of sports.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Chicago?
The summer in Chicago is pretty tough to beat; there’s always a street fest or an event that can make for a great weekend or night out after work. I’m also a big Bulls, Bears and White Sox fan. The city is a lot more fun when our teams are winning.
